At Leitz Tooling, we're committed to high-performance tooling solutions, sustainable practices, and meaningful community impact. Our partnership with Backpacks 4 VIC Kids, a local Victorian charity, showcases this commitment. Together, we’re working to create a lasting, positive impact, from sponsoring a cardboard recycling initiative in their warehouse to volunteer days and coordinating fundraisers throughout the year. But the cornerstone of our partnership lies in our carbide recycling program—an initiative that reflects our dedication to full tool lifecycle stewardship and making a difference.

The Importance of Carbide Recycling

Recycling carbide isn't just about reusing materials; it’s about conserving a precious, finite resource. Carbide, a hard compound critical for durable cutting tools, requires extensive resources to produce. By recycling, we conserve this material, reducing the environmental impact of mining and manufacturing new carbide. In addition, every carbide tool collected through this program helps reduce industrial waste, making it a practical choice for environmentally conscious businesses.

How the Carbide Recycling Program Works

Our carbide recycling program is simple, and it’s free for customers to participate:

  1. Arrange Pickup or Drop-Off: Customers can hand over old carbide tools to our Sales Representatives during regular service visits or drop them off at any Leitz Service Centre location.
  2. Recycling and Donation: We submit these tools to a certified carbide recycling facility, which processes them for reuse. 100% of proceeds generated from this recycled material are donated directly to Backpacks 4 VIC Kids, helping fund their mission to support children in need.

The Difference So Far

Since the program’s inception in 2022, Leitz has raised thousands of dollars, all donated directly to Backpacks 4 VIC kids. This has provided hundreds of children with emergency essentials. Together, we’re not only recycling; we’re creating a lasting impact on our community. Thank you for helping us make a difference.
